Project Achievements

Residents and businesses within the Blacktown area have embraced the Blacktown Solar City™ project with strong participation in the range of offers and programs. Householders have shown they are keen to do their bit to reduce energy consumption with more than 12,700 Energy Efficiency Packs (almost 76,500 compact fluorescent bulbs) distributed, over 3,030 home energy audits conducted and 131 contracts signed for residential ceiling insulation. 176 solar home systems have been installed and 47 solar hot water systems. In local business, 210 kilowatts of solar electricity have been installed. The Business Energy Efficiency Program has also seen four sign ups which points to a willingness among the Blacktown City businesses to take action to reduce their energy consumption.
